Natasia Demetriou — biography and quick facts
Natasia Demetriou is a British actress, stand-up comedian, and writer who became widely known after she landing a role on the series What We Do in the Shadows (from 2019 to present). She also has played roles in other projects like Pls Like, Sick Note and Year Friends.
Biography – life and career
Natasia Demetriou was born in 1984, in London, England. Her mother is English and her father is Greek-Cypriot. She has a younger brother, Jamie, who is also an actor and comedian. In fact, Natasia starred with him in the series Stath Lets Flats, playing together as siblings. She is an alumna at the University of Leeds, where she studied acting.
Prior to being an actress and comedian, Natasia was a makeup artist whose notable work was on music videos for Boy Better Know.
She was a longtime member of the sketch comedy troupe Oyster Eyes.
Her debut show, You’ll Never Have All of Me, won the Skinny Debutant Award at the 2014 Edinburgh Awards.
The sitcom Stath Lets Flats, which premiered on Channel 4 in 2018, was created by Natasia’s brother Jamie, who starred as a socially awkward British Greek-Cypriot man. The real-life siblings also played siblings in the series.
Since March 2019, Natasia has essayed the role of the Greek-Romani vampire Nadja in the FX horror comedy series What We Do in the Shadows, which was based on the 2014 New Zealand mockumentary of the same name. The series follows three vampires living in the Staten Island and trying to cope with the modern-day New York City.
In 2020, Natasia and another actor-comedian Vic Reeves hosted Netflix’s unscripted reality contest The Big Flower Fight.
In 2021, she was a series regular on This Time with Alan Partridge‘s second series.
