Five residents from Abuja have been arrested and paraded by the police in the Federal Capital Territory for raiding the Wuse General Hospital with false claims of having contracted Covid-19 virus (coronavirus)

DSP Anjuguri Manza, Command Public Relations Officer, who paraded the five suspects before newsmen and the public, provided their names as Peggy Shandi, Abayomi Adedoyin, David Gold Enemigin, Priscilla AJesola (the only female in the group) and Jacob Oji.

According to Manza, the suspects claimed to be playing out a script about the coronavirus without the knowledge or authorization of the relevant authorities of the FCTA.

Vanguard reports that these alleged pranksters had reportedly entered the Wuse District Hospital claiming that one of them had been infected with the dreaded Covid-19 virus. This led to panic and confusion, not to mention disruption of regular health service delivery at the hospital.

The police spokesperson said that investigations into the activities of the suspects were still ongoing.

The only female of the alleged pranksters, Peggy Shandi, said their action was merely a prank about the coronavirus.

The FCT Police Command said it was still probing on the case and on the conclusion, the suspects would be charged to court.
